There can be ED due to some other medications therefore you should check the cause of ED. You should talk your doctor in this condition and don’t stop taking your medications. You can switch to the new medication as well.

Medication

ED treatment tablet was launched in 1998 for the first time and now there are four tablets.

  • The blood flow in the penis can be increased with three tablets by affecting cGMP which can dilate the blood vessels during sexual arousal. These three tablets are tadalafil, sildenafil and vardenafil. The dose can be taken before having sex. These medicines are known as phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors.
  • The level of chemicals in brain can be increased by apomorphine which can increase sexual arousal by sending message to the penis. This tablet can be taken 20 minutes before having sex.

There can be increase in the blood flow in the penis with a tablet even if blood vessels are not working well and it can lead to erection. ED can be treated with the help of tablets. These tablets can not cause erection without arousal. These tablets should not be taken in certain medical conditions. You should avoid taking PDE5 in case you are taking nitrate medicines which can be used for the treatment of angina.

Pelvic floor muscle exercises

The muscles which are wrapped around underside of rectum and bladder are known as pelvic floor muscles. one of these muscles wraps the base of muscles which can prevent blood escaping during erection. It can be treated by pelvic floor exercises to prevent ED. The men can be able to regain their normal erectile function after course of pelvic floor exercises with improved results. These exercises should be done daily for period of three months. There can be problems for men with diabetes, heart disease and alcohol addiction.

Injection treatment

This treatment was used commonly before use of tablets. The medicine should be injected into base of penis which can increase blood flow and develops erection.

Urethral medication

Small pallet can be placed into the end of urethra which has similar medicine used for injection. The penis absorbs the medicine quickly resulting erection within 10 to 15 minutes.

Vacuum devices

There are various vacuum devices available which can pump and suck the air causing erection by drawing blood into the penis. The erection is maintained by the rubber band which is placed at the base of penis. Then plastic container is removed and erection is maintained.

Penile prosthesis

Rod can also be inserted into the penis permanently which can inflate the pump causing erection. The penis remains rigid all the time.
